Tobias de Haan (b.1993) is a Dutch documentary maker mainly using photography and film. Through collaboration and social work the work provides visibility for communities otherwise unacknowledged and creates insights into unseen worlds.
Motivated by a sense of care for others, he largely works with marginalized and vulnerable individuals in Amsterdam. Fundamentally, he activates and provides the communites he works with. By doing so, he actively averts the conventional one-way maker-subject relationship that defines many visual practices.
Tobias graduated in 2023 with a BA in Photography from the Royal Academy of Arts The Hague (KABK). Since then, the social organization De Regenboog Groep in Amsterdam has commissioned him multiple times to create work within their community.
